Mother Duck was putting fruit into a big basket.

"Bubbles, dear! Please take this basket of fruit to Grandma Duck. She lives across the forest."

"Yes, Mama! I love visiting Grandma Duck!" says Bubbles.

"But Bubbles, listen carefully. Stay on the path. Do not talk to strangers!" says Mother Duck.

"I will be careful, Mama. I promise!" says Bubbles.

And so little Bubbles walked into the forest with her basket of fruit.

The path was long, but the sun was warm.

Bubbles was walking and singing when she heard a voice behind a tree.

"Well, hello there, little duck! Where are you going on this fine day?" asks Mr. Red.

Bubbles remembered what Mama said. Do not talk to strangers!

But Mr. Red looked so friendly.

"I am going to Grandma Duck's house. She lives on the other side of the forest," says Bubbles.

"How lovely! But look at all these beautiful flowers! Why not pick some for your grandma?" says Mr. Red.

"Oh! They are so pretty! Grandma will love them!" says Bubbles.

While Bubbles picked flowers, Mr. Red ran ahead to Grandma Duck's house.

He was very fast and very sneaky.

Mr. Red arrived at Grandma Duck's house. He knocked on the door. Knock, knock, knock!

"Who is it?" asks Grandma Duck.

"It is me, Bubbles! I have fruit for you, Grandma!" says Mr. Red.

But Grandma Duck was a very clever old duck. She knew that voice was not Bubbles!

"That does not sound like Bubbles! I must hide!" says Grandma Duck.

Grandma Duck hid inside the closet.

Mr. Red pushed open the door and came inside. He put on Grandma's hat and glasses. Then he got into Grandma's bed.

"Now I look just like Grandma Duck. When Bubbles comes, I will eat all her fruit!" says Mr. Red.

Bubbles arrived at Grandma's house with her basket and her flowers. She knocked on the door.

"Grandma! It is me, Bubbles! I brought you fruit and flowers!" says Bubbles.

"Come in, dear! The door is open!" says Mr. Red.

Bubbles came inside. She looked at the bed. Something was not right. Grandma looked... different.

"Grandma, what big eyes you have!" says Bubbles.

"The better to see you with, my dear!" says Mr. Red.

"Grandma, what big ears you have!" says Bubbles.

"The better to hear you with, my dear!" says Mr. Red.
