One day a man and his son were walking to town with their donkey.
有一天，一個男人和他的兒子帶著他們的驢子走向城鎮。

"Father," said the boy, "it is a long way to town. Can't I ride the donkey?"
「爸爸，」男孩說，「到鎮上還有很長的路。我不能騎驢子嗎？」

"Sure you can," the father answered.

He lifted his son and put him on the donkey, and they went on their way.
他抱起他的兒子，把他放到驢子上，然後他們繼續趕路。

Soon they passed some people.

"Look at that lazy boy," one man said.

He rides, and his poor father walks.

The father put his son on the ground and climbed on the donkey.

They went on their way.

After a while they heard more voices.

"Shame!" cried a woman.

That strong man rides, and the child walks.

The father frowned again.

He lifted the boy up so that they both rode the donkey.

How mean! That poor donkey is carrying too much.
