The Pancake Man ran and ran until he reached a wide river.

He stopped at the edge. He could not swim.

"Oh no! A river! I cannot swim. If I get wet, I will fall apart!" says Pancake Man.

Just then, a familiar voice came from behind a bush.

"Good morning, little pancake. Do you need help crossing the river? I can carry you on my nose," says Mr. Red.

"Really? You will not eat me?" asks Pancake Man.

"Eat you? Oh no, no, no. I do not like pancakes. I prefer fish. Now, jump on my nose!" says Mr. Red.

The Pancake Man jumped onto Mr. Red's nose.

Mr. Red walked into the river. The water got deeper and deeper.

"The water is getting deep. Climb higher, little pancake — onto my head!" says Mr. Red.

The Pancake Man climbed onto Mr. Red's head.

Then — snap! Mr. Red opened his mouth wide and tossed the pancake into the air!

But just at that moment, the three little ducks arrived at the river!

"Quick! Jump into the water! Ducks can swim, but foxes cannot!" says Loopy.

Loopy swam fast and caught the Pancake Man before he hit the water.

He put the pancake safely on his head and swam to the other side.

"No! My breakfast!" says Mr. Red.

"You... you saved me! Thank you, Loopy!" says Pancake Man.

Back at the pond, the Pancake Man sat with the three little ducks.

"I am sorry I ran away. I was scared you would eat me," says Pancake Man.

"That is okay. You were very brave to run so fast. But running away from friends is not the answer," says Loopy.

"Loopy is right. And next time, I will bake enough pancakes for everyone — including you, Mr. Pancake!" says Mother Duck.

And so they all shared the pancakes together.

Even the Pancake Man had a tiny bite — of a different pancake, of course.
