Travel Company Tui Under Scrutiny After Baby Dies from E Coli Linked to Egyptian Hotel

The British travel company Tui is facing serious scrutiny after a one-year-old baby girl died from an illness linked to E coli.

The child, Ariella Mann, became sick during a two-week holiday at a five-star hotel in Hurghada, Egypt.

The family had booked the all-inclusive trip through Tui and paid around six thousand pounds for it.

Ariella died in January from a rare kidney condition called haemolytic uraemic syndrome, which is caused by E coli bacteria.

This condition can lead to kidney failure, brain damage, and even death.

The hotel where she stayed is called the Jaz Makadi Aquaviva, and it has been connected to an outbreak of similar cases.

Two other small British children who stayed at the same hotel also became critically ill from the same condition.

A two-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital in London and placed in an induced coma about eighteen months before Ariella's death.

A six-year-old boy was admitted to intensive care just four months before Ariella fell ill.

Both children had travelled to the hotel on holidays booked through Tui.

Ariella's mother, Jade Oakes, said she was disgusted that the family had not been informed about previous E coli cases at the hotel.

She stated that if they had known about the other cases, she would never have taken her child there.

She also said that she and her partner initially felt guilty because they thought the illness was their fault.

Ariella's father, Lee Mann, expressed frustration about the situation.

He said that when you book through a top travel company and pay a lot of money for a five-star hotel, you expect it to be safe.

The family is now calling for greater accountability from the travel company.

Questions have been raised about whether Tui should have warned customers about the earlier incidents at the hotel.
