McGregor Still Attracts Heavy Betting Support Before Holloway Fight

UFC star Conor McGregor has not fought in nearly five years, but bettors still believe in him.

Before Saturday's UFC 329 event, several sportsbooks reported that most of the betting money was placed on McGregor.

He is listed as a significant underdog against former champion Max Holloway, which means the odds suggest he is unlikely to win.

According to FanDuel, a major sportsbook, eighty-seven percent of the money has been placed on the Irish fighter.

McGregor opened as a plus-250 underdog when the fight was announced on May 16.

Since then, his odds have moved down to plus-185 because so many people have bet on him.

At another sportsbook called DraftKings, only twenty-nine percent of the money is supporting Holloway.

Brandon Yaeger, a lead combat sports trader at Caesars Sportsbook, explained why McGregor is so popular with bettors.

"Early action was solely on McGregor because of the mix of hype and value with the big plus money price," Yaeger said.

He added that Holloway bets have started to come in since the odds changed.

However, McGregor is still dominating the bet count by a ratio of three to one.

McGregor is a former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion who has not stepped inside the octagon since 2020.
