EN: In English, section headers often use the word 'Part' followed by a letter to organize content. This structure functions as a label.
Part C is about the future.
EN: In textbooks and exams, 'Part B' is a standard way to divide tasks. It is more formal than saying 'the second part'.
EN: This is a sentence fragment using the '-ing' form (present participle) to describe an ongoing action or a topic heading. In titles or descriptions, the subject (like 'They are') is often omitted.
Talking about the weather.
EN: In English scripts or textbooks, present participle phrases (verb + -ing) are commonly used as scene headings to set the context of a conversation.
EN: The past simple tense is used to describe completed actions in the past. For regular verbs like 'pause', we add '-ed' to the end of the word.
They watched a movie last night.
EN: In the era of streaming services like Netflix or Disney+, 'binge-watching' (watching many episodes in a row) is common. Pausing 'between episodes' suggests they are taking a break before continuing the story.
EN: The phrase '...or what?' is used at the end of a question to emphasize your opinion and invite the listener to agree that something is extreme or impressive.
Is this pizza great or what?
EN: In American English, 'or what' is a very common informal way to seek confirmation. It's often used when watching movies, eating good food, or experiencing something surprising.
EN: The word 'totally' is used as an adverb to emphasize that you completely agree with a previous statement.
It totally was a great movie.
EN: In casual American English, 'totally' is a very common filler or intensifier used by speakers to show enthusiastic agreement.
EN: The present continuous tense (be + verb-ing) is used here with 'still' to show an action or feeling that started in the past and is continuing right now.
I am still waiting for the bus.
EN: In English, 'shaking from' is a common way to describe a physical reaction to a strong emotion like fear or cold. 'Evil spirits' is a general term used in horror contexts to describe ghosts or supernatural entities.
EN: The phrase 'give someone the chills' is used to describe something that makes you feel cold or shiver because of fear or excitement.
That ghost story gave me the chills.
EN: In English, 'the chills' can refer to both physical coldness (like when you have a fever) and the emotional reaction to something scary or moving. In this context, it refers to fear from the TV show.
EN: The auxiliary verb 'did' is used here to avoid repeating the previous verb 'gave' (gave me the chills). 'Too' is added at the end of a positive sentence to mean 'also'.
I liked the movie, and my sister did too.
EN: In English conversations, using 'did too' or 'me too' is a very common way to show empathy or agreement with someone's experience, especially when discussing feelings about a movie or show.
EN: 'Yeah' is an informal way to say 'yes'. It is very common in spoken English to show agreement or to confirm something.
Yeah, I think so too.
EN: In casual conversations between friends like Steven and Regina, 'Yeah' is much more common than the formal 'Yes'. It helps create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
EN: Use 'get' followed by an adjective to describe a change in state or feeling.
The weather got very cold last night.
EN: Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest). For short adjectives like 'scary', we change the 'y' to 'i' and add '-est'.
This is the funniest movie I have ever seen.
EN: In English, starting a sentence with 'For me' or 'In my opinion' is a common way to soften a statement and clarify that you are expressing a personal feeling rather than a universal fact.
EN: Using an adverb as a one-word question to express surprise or seek confirmation.
I'm moving to London. - Really?
EN: In English conversation, 'Really?' is a very common 'back-channeling' response. It shows the listener is engaged and interested in the story, even if they aren't actually doubting the speaker.
EN: The conjunction 'so' is used to connect a cause with its result. In this sentence, the cause is 'it sounded silly' and the result is 'it didn't bother me'.
I was tired, so I went to bed early.
EN: In English, 'silly' is often used to describe something that is not serious or is slightly ridiculous. When talking about horror movies, if something is 'silly', it means it failed to be scary.
EN: This is a common short expression where the verb 'are' is omitted. It follows the pattern [Adjective] + [Pronoun] to comment on someone's situation.
Lucky me!
EN: In English, 'Lucky you' is a very common informal way to express that you are happy for someone or a bit jealous of their good fortune. It is much more natural in conversation than saying 'You are lucky.'
EN: Use 'be ready for' followed by a noun to ask if someone is prepared for an upcoming event or thing.
Are you ready for the test?
EN: In modern streaming culture, 'binge-watching' is common. Asking if someone is 'ready for the next episode' often implies excitement about continuing a story immediately.
EN: Using 'Yes' as a complete sentence to express agreement or confirmation.
Are you hungry? Yes.
EN: In English conversations, 'Yes' can sometimes sound a bit formal or abrupt. People often use 'Yeah' or 'Sure' in casual settings with friends like Steven and Regina.
EN: Using 'comparative + and + comparative' (e.g., better and better) shows that something is changing continuously over time.
The weather is getting hotter and hotter.
EN: In English-speaking culture, it's common to use 'better and better' to express enthusiasm about a TV show or book series as the plot develops.
